In loving Memory of Daphne Felicita Mellis

Our Eternal Love: The Legacy of Daphne

While the pain of our mum’s absence is immense, our sorrow is overshadowed by the gratitude we hold for her life, her wisdom, and the unconditional love she gave to her family.

This collection of images captures the heart of Daphne’s world: her children, her grandchildren, her devoted parents, and her loving siblings. It is a visual testament to the beautiful connections she nurtured and the unbreakable chain of family she created. These moments represent a final, loving tribute to the matriarch of our family.

Though we can no longer see her face, we carry her spirit within us—a light that guides, a comfort that sustains, and a love that is forever present. As you view these precious faces, may you find comfort in the knowledge that her love is the permanent legacy that lives on in all of us.

A Verse of Remembrance

We share this verse as a reminder that love never dies and family bonds transcend all earthly boundaries:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7-8a (NIV)

Mum (Daphne Felicita Mellis), was born on January 9th, 1951, in Camp Savanna Mountain, Grange Hill, Westmorland, Jamaica and was the daughter of Aldith Graham and Rupert Mellis. She was adored and loved by her grandparents, Darcus Sharpe and Manifest Graham. Tragically, her biological father passed away when she was just two years old, and she was raised by our Grandad, Elfred Johns.

Our beloved mother, Daphne Mellis, passed away on October 21st, 2024. She leaves behind four children: Darron Wint, Amanda Smith, Keshia Mellis, and Neshia Mellis. Also, 6 grandchildren: Omarri, Raheim, Janay, Taliyah, Kayla, and Tyrelle, who are forever grateful for her unwavering love, strength, and kindness.

Mum also leaves behind 6 siblings: Lorenzo Mellis, Glenford Mellis, Marva Johns, Levon Johns, Sharon Johns, and Kevin Johns, who loved, cherished, and adored her. Also a host of nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnieces, great grandnephews, great great grandnieces, and great great grandnephews.

Mum touched so many lives with her warmth and generosity, and we miss her beyond words. She was our hero, a source of strength, love, and comfort, and the heart of our family. We hold on to our memories of her and the deep love she gave us, finding comfort in knowing she is now at peace.

Rest on, Mum, until that resurrection morning!

The Hardest Goodbye: Rest on, Mum

On Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, we faced the hardest day—the day we laid our beautiful mother, Daphne, to rest. There are no words sufficient to describe the profound grief of that goodbye, yet our hearts are simultaneously full of gratitude for the incredible life she lived and the unwavering love she poured into us all.

This collection of images captures the farewell that was filled with both tears and profound celebration—a final, loving tribute to our hero. Though the physical presence of our mother is gone, we hold tight to the belief that her spirit remains—strong, loving, and forever watching over her family and all who cherished her.

As you look through these moments, may you feel the warmth of her legacy and find comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace. She is the heart of our family, and she is always in our hearts.

A Verse of Comfort

We share this verse as a source of peace for everyone who misses her dearly:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

— John 14:27 (NIV)

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

Colossians 3:16 (NIV)

Memories don’t leave like people do;
they always stay with you, whether they are good or bad, you’ve got them.
